nephra's befriending service
At NEPHRA, one of our main aims is to combat loneliness and isolation, and our befriending service leads the charge!
We have a team of Volunteer Befrienders, who have all been DBS checked and trained. Their role is to visit an older person in their home, perhaps for a cup of tea and a chat, or to accompany them to an activity.
Befriending offers supportive, reliable relationships to people who would otherwise be socially isolated and the results can be considerable. It can help with self esteem and self confidence, widen social circles and introduce people to new hobbies and activities.
Our service is provided free of charge and is made possible through the marvellous work of our volunteer befrienders.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has placed restrictions on our usual face-to face befriending service, which has had to be replaced for the time being with our telephone befriending service. Currently our team are making regular checks and friendly phone calls to our more vulnerable and isolated clients.
