Project Summery.

At NEPHRA, one of our main aims is to combat loneliness and isolation, and our befriending service leads the charge!

We have a team of Volunteer Befrienders, who have all been DBS checked and trained.  Their role is to visit an older person in their home, perhaps for a cup of tea and a chat, or to accompany them to an activity.

Befriending offers supportive, reliable relationships to people who would otherwise be socially isolated and the results can be considerable.  It can help with self esteem and self confidence, widen social circles and introduce people to new hobbies and activities.

Our service is provided free of charge and is made possible through the marvellous work of our volunteer befrienders.

If you’re lonely or isolated, or know of someone who is, then NEPHRA’s befriending is there to help!  We can match you with one of our volunteers who will phone or visit you, at a time convenient to you each week and we will do our best to make sure that it’s the same person each time so you can grow a real friendship.

Alternatively, if you’ve been inspired to help a lonely or isolated older person then please get in touch and enquire about becoming a volunteer befriender with NEPHRA, you could change someone’s life for the better!
